“I’m Nuts and Bolts About You” – Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Today’s prompt for the “Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge” was “For a Child”. I’m a mother of a boy and the first thing that popped to my mind was Robots!! Today’s card was relatively simple and took no time at all. I’m still not sure why I haven’t been making cards forever. I get such a feeling of accomplishment when I finish one!! I hope that when you see how easy this was, you too are inspired to make MoRe CARDS!!

The paper of choice, today, was by Ranger Ink. It is the Tim Holtz Distress Mixed Media Heavystock. It comes in a package of 4-1/4″x5-1/2″. That’s perfect size for making cards. The stamp set of choice, today, was from Stampers Anonymous and it’s from the Tim Holtz line as well. The name of the set is Robots Blueprint (CMS233). I also used a set from Stampendous for the sentiment. The number on this packaging is SSC1033. I’m not real familiar with Stampendous, so I hope that is the correct number.

The first step is always my background. For my background, I chose to work with Distress Oxide Ink Pads. The colors were Blueprint Sketch and Faded Jeans. I took two of the pieces of heavystock and colored them both the same. I smushed a little of the ink on the nonstick mat of my glass media mat and spritzed it with a little water. I then dabbed the paper into the inky mixture until I was happy with the coverage. I dried it with my Heat It craft tool, and then did the same procedure with the next color. I used regular Distress Ink in Ground Espresso to distress the edges.

Once I was happy with my background, I cut it down to fit on a blank, Kraft paper card base. Then I took the screws (THS087) layering stencil from Stampers Anonymous and my Transparent Matte Texture Paste from Ranger and gave the background a little dimension. I used a palette knife to spread the texture paste over the stencil and then dried it with my Heat it tool. It was the perfect addition to the sentiment I had already planned for the card. I then distressed this piece with my Ground Espresso and adhered it to the card base with some X-Press It High tack double sided tape.

Next, I used my Stamping Platform from Tonic and my stamp set and stamped my robot onto the other piece of blue heavystock. The ink I chose to stamp with was Distress Archival Faded Jeans. I also stamped my sentiment “I’m nuts [and Bolts] About You”. On this particular piece, I was forced to use my Misti because the clear stamp was so thin. Both Pieces were distressed with my blending tool and the Distress Ink Ground Espresso. Then they were adhered to the card as well, with pop dots and glue.

Y’all! This card was so simple. It’s just tools and knowing how to use them! If it was rocket science, I wouldn’t be doing it!! Thank You, Tim Holtz for all the demos and inspiring us to share, ShArE, SHARE!!

Until next time,

Jennifer
